Who am I?

Hi. I’m Jamie. I’m a 32 Year old Canadian who has been travelling abroad on and off for the past 7 years. I’m a former Collegiate football player turned nomad and I’ve been to and/or lived in 15 different countries, including Colombia, Australia, Thailand, & Japan to name a few.

I am passionate about learning and teaching. I’m a firm believer in the ‘Growth Mindset’, where continuous learning is essential to sustained happiness and meaning in life. The combination of these things has bred a passion for knowledge accumulation and the desire to share the relevant, impactful information and ideas.

A few mentionable hobbies of mine are:

  • Scuba Diving
  • Photography
  • Personal Development
  • Being Active (Mostly Muay Thai and Golf Now A days)

What is Wisdom From The Trail?

Wisdom From The Trail (WFTT) is an archive of the past 7 years of my life since I’ve began travelling abroad.  It is a way I hope to give back some of the value and insight that I’ve learned and accumulated over these 7 wonderful years.

The idea of WFTT is one I’ve had on my mind for multiple years, but have only recently decided to bring it to life. I figured there was so much information on travelling and alternative living already out there on the internet, that it would be somewhat redundant to make it all again. However, when I’ve spoken on my travels and experiences to others who’ve asked me about them, it’s pretty evident that people have no idea where to start in their own journey of travelling and/or alternative living.

This had been the case for years, where I would meet someone who would signal to me or encourage me to start this website after sharing bits of my travels with them. Yet, I have put it off for a few reasons, but all of them boil down to either fear of what others think of my work or procrastination. Although I believe the procrastination is a bi-product of being fearful of doing something creative for the first time in my life.

However, as the years have gone by, I’ve become impatient with putting it off and I have also become less scared of what others think of me and my work. So I’ve gotten to the point where I will create this website with the aim to give people value. I figure if I can give out information, write about interesting and thought provoking topics, and speak about my experiences objectively and with the hopes of helping people, that would be a worthwhile endeavor.

The aim for Wisdom From The Trail is to ultimately be a resource for travelling, alternative living, and self development

Final Thoughts

If I could have one wish for this website, it is to help as many people as possible to open up their minds to what is possible not only in life, but what can be possible in their lives. In YOUR life.

I strongly believe that information and wisdom should not be gatekept. It should be available to all who seek it and given freely to help other’s, as it has been given freely to me either from another person or a personal experience. Either way, knowledge sharing is the way. And this website will be a vessel for me to share experiences and wisdom that can help guide or impact your life for the better.

This website will be a work in progress and it will also be shaped by not only my own thoughts and experiences, but by yours and other alike as well. I am one who admits to not knowing everything, and I believe others can teach me many things, just as I can teach others things as well. So if this website can develop into be a relatable resource for people to go to connect with the information I share or to even connect with me personally, that would be a wonderful thing in my opinion. So please reach out to me if you have any comments, questions, concerns, or ideas to discuss. I would love to hear from you
